Leigh Armistead - Southeast Region

Dr. Leigh Armistead is a school psychologist who earned his specialist degree at Winthrop University and his doctorate at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.  He practiced in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District for fourteen years before joining the faculty of Winthrop University in 2004.  Dr. Armistead's specialty areas include early intervention for reading disabilities, positive behavior support programs and the use of technology in school psychology.  He teaches courses in behavior modification, exceptionalities in children, psycho-educational assessment, as well as school psychology traineeship and internship courses.  Dr. Armistead is licensed as a Psychological Associate in North Carolina and as a School Psychologist in both North and South Carolina.

Juliette Madigan - Midwest Region

Juliette Madigan, M.Ed., NCSP is a School Psychologist for the Cleveland Municipal School District in Cleveland, Ohio. She serves in Clara E. Westropp K-8 School and as half time Crisis Coordinator for the district. She has served as NASP Delegate from Ohio for two terms and is currently a NASP Children's Fund Trustee. In 1997, Ms. Madigan was honored as Ohio School Psychologist of the Year and in 1999 served as OSPA President. Ms. Madigan is a Certificated School Psychologist with the Ohio Department of Education and a Licensed School Psychologist with the Ohio Board of Psychology.

Melissa Pearrow - Northeast Region

Dr. Melissa Pearrow obtained her Ph.D. in School Psychology from Northeastern University before joining the faculty of the School Psychology Program at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. She teaches courses in abnormal psychology, social, emotional and behavioral assessment, and systems- and prevention-focused school-based practicum. She practiced as a school psychologist for ten years in the Quincy, MA Public Schools where she also chaired the program for students with emotional and behavioral disorders and supervised intern and practicum students. She was the President of the Massachusetts School Psychologists Association and has served NASP on the Strategic Planning Committee and Convention Committee. Her research interests are in the areas of school-based mental health services and empowerment programs with urban youth.

Fred Provenzano - Western Region

Fred Provenzano, PhD, NCSP is a licensed psychologist and certified school psychologist in private practice in Seattle, WA. In addition to his work in private practice, he has worked as a school psychologist and intervention specialist in public schools and in pediatric neuropsychology at the Seattle Children’s Hospital and Medical Center. Dr. Provenzano has also been an associate clinical instructor in the University of Washington’s School Psychology training program and a visiting instructor at University of Idaho, teaching graduate courses in counseling theory, counseling practicum, consultation, and family counseling. His experience also includes supervision of pre-doctoral interns and post-doctoral residents. Currently the Washington state delegate to NASP, he has also served NASP as Program Manager for Professional Development, Convention Chair, Leadership Development Chair, and on the Ethics Advisory Panel. Dr. Provenzano is a former president of the Washington State Association of School Psychologists, and served as their Ethics Chair for six years. He completed his PhD from the Educational Psychology Department at the University of Washington in 1983.

Susan Jacob - Co-Chair

Susan Jacob, who earned her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Michigan State University in 1981, is currently Professor of Psychology and faculty member of the School Psychology Program at Central Michigan University.  She is co-author, with T.S. Hartshorne, of Ethics and Law for School Psychologists, now in its fourth edition (2003), and is author or co-author of more than thirty book chapters and journal articles.  From 1997-2000, Dr. Jacob was coordinator of the Central Michigan State University Institutional Review Board for Research Involving Human Subjects.  She is currently co-chair of the NASP Ethical and Professional Practices Committee.  Dr. Jacob's areas of professional interest include ethical and legal issues for school psychologists, creating safe schools for sexual minority youth, and intellectual assessment.

Kathy McNamara - Chair

Kathy McNamara received her Ph.D. in School Psychology from Kent State University in 1985, and served as a practitioner and supervisor for fifteen years before joining the faculty of the School Psychology Program at Cleveland State University in 1994, where she is currently serving as director of the program. Dr. McNamara serves on the Executive Board and chairs the Professional Ethics and Standards Committee of the Ohio School Psychologists Association. She authored a chapter on “applied ethics” in Best Practices V, and her research interests include service delivery models, Response to Intervention, and professional practice issues. Dr. McNamara has been a member of the NASP Ethics and Professional Principles Committee since 2000.
